Jumpball at Watson Classic

The Watson Classic is celebrating its 10 year anniversary and doin’ it in style. Featuring some of the top ballers in NYC, tough unis, and Joe Pope on the MIC, WC is making a case to be mentioned among the top summer leagues in the mecca. Before my game with the Gym Rats on Sunday, I caught some highlights in the match-up between M.O.E. and Posse. Antawn “Anti-Freeze” Dobie, Kenny “Serious Satellite” Satterfield and Body Wide are just a few of the household names sportin’ orange for M.O.E. and they put a hurtin’ on Posse. K Satt continues to be unguardable in ‘09 with long-range shooting and foul-drawing drives to the cup.

Anti-Freeze made it clear to me that he is chasing Player of the Year honors this year after being “snubbed last year.” As if averaging 44 last summer in the Tournament of Champions wasn’t enough, this year Dobie is focused and ready to prove that he is the best in NYC. M.O.E. finished the game at 69-51 over Posse.

The Gym Rats lost its second game, but not before Bobbito got an earful from the announcer. Joe Pope was running late and I didn’t get a chance to get the name of his replacement, but he was hilarious! He said Bob was rockin’ a fade, caesar, fro and tape-up all in one. Bob might be rockin’ a du-rag for the rest of the season. He did drain a trey bomb from deep as the jokes were flowin’ though. It turned out to be a tough loss in a close game, but the Gym Rats continue to improve.

Jennifer Hudson's Mother, Brother Found Dead; Nephew Kidnapped

Source:

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother were found shot in their Chicago home

today, and her nephew 7-year-old Julian King is missing from the scene, according to reports:

Police are looking for William Balfour, who they claim could be with the missing 7-year-old. According to records, Balfour listed Hudson's mother's address as a place of residence within the last year. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections website, Balfour is currently on parole after serving jail time for attempted murder.

The shooting is suspected as domestic and the bodies were discovered by a cousin. Police are looking for a 1994 white Suburban with the license plate

Gone over seas

The trend these day's for most Basketballers is to play for a high power Prep school for the extra year to hone their skills, then log a couple of years in Div I College get drafted by their favorite Franchise (Which ever one would draft them) get a couple years for one team etc... etc..... It's 2008 even Proballers are Jumping ship to the Professional leagues overseas.

Two of M.O.E's favorite Basketball sons are no strangers to the overseas route Fred "The Razor"Williams with Argentina then Tochigi Brex of the JBL ( Japan Basketball League) and Corey "Homocide" Williams for the Townsville Crocodiles of Australia’s National Basketball League, leading that team last week with 26.9 ppg 10.5 boards and 2.5 assist holding it down Down under (pause) Down under is what they call Austrailia for the slow folks. Another trend surprisingly enough pretty much beginning this year is NBA pro's going to overseas teams for the money and playing time.

Our own Andre Barrett instead of breaking another 7 footers heart (if you didnt know Dre beat out 7-foot-1-inch Luke Schenscher for the final spot on the 2006 roster) to go Overseas to FCBarcelona not yet killing out there but he's well on the way.
Josh Childress - Olympiacos (Photo: Argiris Makris)

Some dead weight leftt the league for cash Josh Childress who I think made the best move for himself received a three-year deal from Greek club Olympiakos worth about $20 million after taxes. It is far more than he would have received from any NBA team.
Earl Boykins is reportedly the highest-paid player in the Italian League and former New Jersey Net Bostjan Nachbar signed a three-year, $14.3 million deal with Dynamo Moscow. Many more to go and for the most part good riddence for bad rubbish

Say it aint so B

As originally reported by SOHH Soul Rebel
If you believe Fox News *smirk* Beyonce and her Dadager (Dad/manager for the slow folks) have been "strong arming" songwriters for publishing rights. The latest word is that Bey jacked her new single "If I Were A Boy" from a young unsigned singer by the name of BC Jean. BC allegedly wrote the melody and lyrics for the song, which is the first single off Bey's third album I Am...

The grapevine is claiming that BC didn't even realize the song her song had been swiped until recently. She originally recorded a dozen or so songs with German producer Toby Gad for his album, but Gad walked away with them and shopped them to major artists instead.

Now insiders tongues are wagging that Matthew Knowles aggressively pursued the publishing rights to the potential hit record with the goal of getting the rights to the song and putting Beyonce's name on the writing credits. According to sources, part of the deal is that the two singers will duet on BC Jean's debut album once she gets her own recording deal.

Rebel Talking... Whoa Bey, maybe you should change your album title to I Am... A Thief. Just sayin'! If this ain't some mess straight outta Dreamgirls...

Nobody else had been close to the Americans in Beijing. This team's only Olympic competition had been history, in a Dream matchup with guys named Jordan, Magic, Bird and the rest of the U.S. team that dominated the Barcelona Games in 1992.

Forget comparisons to those guys. The Americans were lucky to be better than Spain on Sunday.

Rudy Fernandez scored 22 points and Pau Gasol had 21 for the Spanish, the reigning world champions who were hoping to win their first Olympic gold.

U.S. players appreciated the game Spain gave them. After the contest they hugged the Spanish players. Bryant had an especially long embrace for Gasol, patting his Los Angeles Lakers teammate on the back.

Seeming to appreciate the moment, after congratulating Spain, the team joined in a circle, jumping up and down at center court and waving triumphantly to the crowd as coach Mike Krzyzewski applauded on the sidelines.

The Americans had won their first seven games by 30.3 points, including a 119-82 rout of Spain. But they never had control of this game, giving up open looks from the perimeter and plenty of points in the paint.

But Bryant, who waited so long to finally wear the red, white and blue, hit two 3-pointers in a big fourth quarter to add the gold medal to the only piece of hoops hardware he didn't already own. The NBA MVP pounded his hands toward the floor in celebration at the end.

LeBron James scored 14 points, while Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul had 13 apiece for the Americans, who had won bronze medals in their last two international events, the 2004 Olympics and '06 world championships.

Boasting of an average margin of victory of 37.6 points a game for its eight game run to gold, the 2008 U.S. Women's Olympic Basketball Team (8-0) crushed all comers on the way to the Olympic gold medal, including previously unbeaten Australia (7-1) in a 92-65 blowout in the gold medal game on Saturday night at Wukesong Arena in Beijing, China.

First-time Olympian Kara Lawson (Sacramento Monarchs) led the way with 15 points off the bench on a flawless 5-of-5 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 accuracy from the foul line, followed by 14 points and seven rebounds from the USA's only consecutive four-time gold medalist in history, 36-year-old Lisa Leslie (Los Angeles Sparks). Candace Parker (Los Angeles Sparks) also tallied 14 points and hit 4-of-4 from the floor, while Sylvia Fowles (Chicago Sky) added 13 points and five rebounds.

Rhianna and Chris Brown together?

IT'S OFFICIAL CHRIS BROWN IS FUCKIN RIHANNA

R.I.P BERNIE MAC YOU WILL BE MISSED

AGGGH DAMN MAN MY BOY BERNIE GONE I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE IT, ONE OF THE FUNNIEST DUDES ON EARTH GONE AT 50
NOT MUCH I CAN SAY BOUT THIS HERE

Bernie Mac’s wife and daughter were with him until the very end, says the late comic's sister-in-law in a personal and touching interview with PEOPLE that took place Saturday.

Speaking of a heartbreaking moment between her younger sister, Rhonda, and the 50-year-old actor-comedian – who succumbed to complications from pneumonia in a Chicago hospital at 2 a.m. Saturday – Mary Ann Grossett says that the night before Mac died, "He struggled for his life. He couldn't breathe.

"He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda. She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, 'Don't leave me … 'I'm waiting for you to come back.' He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that's when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired."

Rhonda, Mac’s wife since 1977, and their 30-year-old daughter, Je'Niece, were with him when he died. "[The doctors] were working on him," says Grossett. "They tried to resuscitate him two times. One time he came back for about an hour. Then he went into cardiac arrest the second time."

Prior to that, the couple had last communicated on July 31. "He told his wife [non-verbally] that he could breathe on his own, and he wanted the ventilator out. He motioned that he wanted it out," says Grossett.

The sister-in-law says Mac's inflammatory lung disease contributed to his death. "He had sarcoidosis, but it was in remission," she says. "But because he had it, his immune system was compromised. He had an infection ... He was on a new medication that suppresses the immune system, and that's where the pneumonia came from."

She reveals that Mac – having trouble breathing and running a fever – was actually hospitalized on July 24, eight days before the date given for his admittance. The actor was diagnosed with pneumonia and immediately placed on a ventilator.

"He was critically ill when he was in the hospital," says Gossett. "He was in intensive care the whole time."

She adds that doctors kept the star sedated, although he was conscious at times and he contracted a second strain of pneumonia while in the hospital.

Andre Barrett and Kenny Satterfiled Kill at Hoops in the Sun, Bx Stand up

Hoops In The Sun: KENNY SATTERFIELD/ANDRE BARRETT COMBINE FOR A RECORD 134 POINTS! / JUL 8, 2008 / 9:13 AM
BY BOUNCE

L-R: Andre Barrett, Kenny Satterfield, Bobby Santiago

There was a rumble in the BX this 4th of July at the Hoops in the Sun tournament. On Saturday July 5th, PR Pride went up against Hoop Street. Two guards went back and forth, unleashing a historic offensive fusillade in the Baychester Community Center, the HITS rain site. These two guards combined for 134 points. The irony? They are teammates, Kenny Satterfield and Andre Barrett of PR Pride. Satterfield scored 68 points as he shattered the recently recorded HITS single-game scoring title (previously 65). He also dished out 13 dimes, most of which went to Barrett. Barrett scored 66 points and added 12 assists and 8 boards on what he made look like easy lay-ups and stop-and-pop treys from long distance.

If these names sound familiar, that’s because Kenny Satterfield was a Cincinnati Bearcat and Andre Barrett a Seton Hall Pirate as they took their NYC street game to the NCAA hardwood and it led them both to the NBA. Satterfield once played for the Denver Nuggets while Andre Barrett was most recently a Chicago Bull

Still taking shots at T.I

While at the G-Unit “Terminate on Sight” listening session, a joint came on called “You So Tough”. In it 50 says “You got knocked for 10 machine guns and only get 12 months”. Clearly he is going at T.I. and making it seem like he may have snitched.
Thanks to Miss Info for the full verse
“Nowaways this rap shit aint adding up. How n—-s get caught with 10 machine guns, only get 12 months?
Oo-weee, don’t talk to me. If you talking to him, you talking to them…
I got the best lawyers that money can buy….they say at best they woulda got me 10 or maybe 9.
I said, how do you explain how the homie breezed? They said, you keep your mouth shut or you eat the cheese.”
Seems like 50’s jab came out of no where. Is he just doing it to sell records or just expressing what a lot of people are thinking?

R.KELLY NOT GUILTY

R & B singer R. Kelly cried as he was acquitted on all counts at his child pornography trial Friday afternoon.

The superstar dabbed his face with a handkerchief and hugged his attorneys after being found not guilty on 14 counts of child pornography.

Kelly did not speak to reporters as he left the courtroom.

"He needs a little time to be with his family, collect himself and get strong again," said Allan Mayer, R. Kelly's spokesperson

Jurors deliberated for less than a day in the case. They had to decide if Kelly was the man shown on a videotape having sex with a girl as young as 13. Both Kelly and the girl, who is now 23, denied they were on the tape. Neither took the stand during the trial.

Had he been convicted, Kelly would have faced up to 15 years in prison and have to register as a sex offender.

R. Kelly's most popular songs include "I Believe I Can Fly," "Bump N' Grind" and "Ignition."
